TrumpRx August 2026 Update and Considerations for Payers

Launched on February 5, 2026, TrumpRx is the Trump Administration’s online cash-price platform designed to improve consumer access to discounted prescription medications through its Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) drug pricing initiative. The platform does not dispense medications directly; instead, it refers patients to manufacturer-sponsored direct-to-consumer websites or participating pharmacies where drugs can be purchased at a discount off list price.

Since launch, the platform has evolved significantly. The Presidential Deals program has expanded from 43 to 80 drug listings, covering 73 unique drugs from 16 manufacturers, including AbbVie, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, EMD Serono, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and Regeneron, among others. Advertised discounts range from 10% to 95% below list price, with the largest discounts observed for select therapies in diabetes, fertility, and glaucoma. In May 2026, TrumpRx added a Standard Prices section featuring cash-price listings for 761 generic medications sourced through Amazon Pharmacy, Cost Plus Drugs, and GoodRx at local retail pharmacies.

Despite offering meaningful discounts, purchases made through TrumpRx generally do not count toward insurance deductibles or annual out-of-pocket maximums, raising important strategic and financial considerations for payers.
